Biography

Kevin Dwyer is a PhD student in the Human and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology program in the School for the Future of Innovation in Society at Arizona State University.

Prior to returning to school, Kevin completed a 27-year career working as the senior paralegal for Hoskin, Farina & Kampf, P.C., an AV-rated law firm in Grand Junction, Colorado, and as the senior claims coordinator for Sundt Construction, Inc., a large general contractor based in Phoenix.

Kevin has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado, an Associate of Applied Science in Business Computer Information Systems from Colorado Mesa University, and a Master of Liberal Studies from Arizona State University.

Kevin’s research focuses on assessing the use of three-dimensional computer models – commonly referred to as building information models – to facilitate conversations with decision makers regarding the design and construction of infrastructure projects. He is interested in increasing productivity, enhancing resilience and sustainability, and improving outcomes. He has contributed to articles in Engineering News Record and Civil Engineering News on the use of building information models.

Kevin is a LEED Accredited Professional. He conceived of and coordinated, “Walking the Talk: An Examination of Sustainability in Design, Construction and Urban Development Relating to Light Rail” at Greenbuild 2009.

Kevin is an avid bicycle rider. In 1994, he completed the Pacific-Atlantic Bicycle Tour from San Diego, California to Charleston, South Carolina by pedaling 2,833 miles in 23 days, or an average of 125 miles per day.
