Biography

Dr. Rajan began his academic career at Arizona State University in Fall 1983. His research and teaching interests include the general area of finite element analysis and design optimization. He is the Director of Computational Mechanics Lab where algorithms for high-performance computations are developed and implemented. Dr. Rajan has worked on research projects sponsored by government agencies such as NSF, NASA, FAA, ARO and FHWA, and private companies such as Motorola, Honeywell Engines, SRP, Tyco International, Alcon and HYI working in diverse areas as design optimization, parallel processing, constitutive material modeling, microelectronic packaging, web-based distant learning, impact mitigation, biomechanics and engineering software development. Dr. Rajan is the author of the undergraduate John Wiley textbook Introduction to Structural Analysis and Design.
