Biography

Dr. Hu received a Ph.D. degree in Microalgal Biotechnology from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel) in 1996, and spent his postdoctoral period at the Marin Biotechnology Institute Kamaishi laboratories in Japan and in the Department of Plant Biology (joint appointment in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering) at Arizona State University. He has been working on various aspects of microalgae including the structure and function of cyanobacterial photosystems, growth physiology of high-density algal culture, photobioreactor system design, and application of algal mass culture technology for nutriceutical industry and environmental bioremediation.
