Biography

Dr. Nuri C. Onat serves as an assistant professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering at Istanbul Sehir University  (SEHIR) and co-director and co-founder of Sustainable Systems & Solutions Lab (S3-Lab). He also holds the positions of Senior Sustainability Fellow at the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability and an Online Instructor at School of Sustainability at Arizona State University. Prior to joining the SEHIR, he worked as a Walton Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Julie Ann Wrigley Global Sustainability Institute at the Arizona State University as part of the Walton Sustainability Fellowship Program. Dr. Onat has over 30 publications (journal plus conference) in various topics: sustainable transportation, green buildings, sustainability assessment methods, system dynamics, and life cycle sustainability assessment.

Dr. Onat received his PhD from the Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering Department at the University of Central Florida (UCF). Onat completed his M.S. in the Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering, under the Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment (ESSIE) at the University of Florida (UF), where he also received Certificate of Engineering Entrepreneurship from Engineering Innovation Institute. He also has a second master degree from the Department of Industrial Engineering & Management Systems at UCF. Prior to starting the academic studies, he worked as a Civil Engineer in several engineering firms in Turkey, specializing in renewable power generation. He completed his BS in the Department of Civil Engineering at Gazi University, Turkey.
