Biography

Mahir Yazar is a Fulbright Scholar and PhD student in Environmental Social Sciences program at Arizona State University. Yazar holds a bachelor degree in Politics and a master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from Bogazici University, Istanbul. He earned his second master degree in International Relations from University of London with Jean Monnet Fellowships. Mahir has spent the past several years between Istanbul and London before arriving in Phoenix, and worked in GREEN-WIN, a EU-Horizon 2020 funded international transdisciplinary research collaboration, focusing urban sustainability transformation and the green-win potential of strategies in Istanbul, Shanghai, Barcelona and Venice. His general research focus on urban sustainability transition, specifically what transition capacities that local governments likely need to inhabit to increase chances of fostering sustainability implementations within global networks and local niches.
