Biography

Daniela Raik spearheads Conservation International's science agenda, which is focused on understanding the relationship between people and nature, including mapping and accounting for nature's benefits to people, advancing nature-based solutions to climate change, and pioneering tools and technologies to monitor nature.

In March 2016, she returned to CI after leading the Climate Change, Natural Resources and Biodiversity Department at International Resources Group. Previously, she worked at CI for 10 years, most recently as Vice President of Field Program Management, guiding the work of CI's field division in nearly 30 countries.

She was instrumental in developing the Gaborone Declaration for Sustainability in Africa, an African-led initiative that provides a new model for sustainable development on the continent.

Raik has spent two decades in natural resource management and sustainable development. She has a PhD and MS in Natural Resources from Cornell University, and a BA in Biology from New York University.
