Biography

Amy Lamphere, School of Sustainability Bachelor of Arts student, is planning to graduate in 2017. When she was a child, both of her parents worked for the U.S. Forest Service, where she grew to love the natural world.  But what really caught her attention, as to how natural resources are being used, was when she moved to the Phoenix area. The immense amount of water used for lawns and water features left her flabbergasted and concerned about the future.

The stars aligned a few years later and she was able to translate her concern about the future to being able to achieve (almost) a sustainability degree from Arizona State University.  Here she has learned that there are so many more people like her, but more excitingly, there are people with ideas as to solutions and that is what she has been seeking.  Amy wants to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.  She realized these are all "wicked" problems, but feels that the more people that are aware of what is happening (and what could happen) the more people will be on board to help solve these concerns.
