Summary

CBO facilitates meetings with the Bureau of Land Management and The Nature Conservancy as part of a larger BLM project to conduct a regional mitigation planning effort for the three Solar Energy Zones in Arizona.

The project involves creating a comprehensive spatial map of the Sonoran Desert that identifies areas in need of conservation strategies based on extensive species and ecological data and, conversely, those areas with low conservation value. The map will enable the BLM to perform cumulative assessments and collective impact analysis so that mitigation strategies can be targeted and effective. Companion studies will focus on effective techniques, strategies and costs.

CBO coordinates discussions on regional solar planning and mitigation strategies and collaborates with partners to develop planning tools and recommendations.

This research connects to the CBO-sponsored Sonoran Eco-Regional Assessment.
