Summary

Center for Biodiversity Outcomes project leads are working to address the threat to marine and freshwater species posed by the ingestion of microplastics that contain contaminants. Their research will determine which types of plastics are most likely to absorb contaminants and which marine and freshwater species have the greater potential to absorb those contaminants. The research will inform policy for better management of solid waste, including the introduction of plastics and other contaminants into freshwater and marine environments.
