Dr. Goggin studies environmental rhetoric and sustainability. He is the editor of Rhetorics, Literacies, and Narratives of Sustainability (2009) and author of Professing Literacy in Composition Studies (2008). His work on literacies of sustainability, environmental rhetoric, and environmental discourse have appeared in Composition Studies, Community Literacy Journal. Other essays and reviews on rhetoric and writing and literacy studies have appeared in such journals as Rhetoric Review, Enculturation, and Computers and Composition. His current research includes a long term study of rhetorics and discourses of sustainability in small island nation states. Dr. Goggin teaches graduate and undergraduate English courses in ecological literacy and environmental rhetoric. He is founder and director of the annual Western States Rhetoric and Literacy conference which features themes on sustainability, culture, and the environment.
