Biography

Michelle earned her BA at Rice University. She received her Master’s in Applied Geography from Texas State University in 2001. Her graduate research focused on food systems, sustainable resources management and ecological restoration. She has been active professionally in conservation work for biological diversity and local food systems. Michelle has been teaching at the undergraduate level since 2002. In addition to her professorial duties, she is also a writer and yoga teacher.

Michelle’s scholarly interests include land use policy, ecological ethics, global development studies, environmental justice, local knowledge and climate change.
