Biography

Erinanne Saffell is the Arizona State Climatologist. Her main research interests are extreme weather and climate events, including flood and drought, as well as impacts of the Urban Heat Island.

As Senior Lecturer with the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University, Saffell develops courses and upper-division seminars in Physical Geography, Meteorology, and Climatology, and directs K-12 outreach and training programs on these topics. Together with the National Weather Service and the Salt River Project, she established Arizona’s only middle-school weather camp. She is currently co-chair of the Arizona Drought Monitoring Technical Committee and serves on the American Meteorological Society Board of Outreach and Informal Education.
