Bennett Dorrance, Jr. was born and raised in Arizona and currently works and resides on the Island of Hawai‘i with his wife, Delphina, and their three beautiful children, Orion, Jax and Aurora.
Dorrance is a Managing Director for the DFE Trust Company, and the Vice President of The Dorrance Family Foundation, which supports education, natural resource conservation and programs that improve the quality of life in their communities: Arizona, California and Hawai'i. Dorrance is devoted to, and active in, the North Kohala community as an advocate and promoter for local farmers, local schools, alternative energy initiatives, mindfulness, and land and historic preservation. Dorrance also actively supports programs and projects that celebrate, honor and promote the culture and resources of Hawai‘i; preserving its history and its future.
Dorrance is the cofounder and board member of Kohala Institute at ‘Iole, providing opportunities for people to connect with the land and universal values for a better world. Kohala Institute stewards 2,400 acres in North Kohala on the Island of Hawai’i that includes the historic ahupua’a, ‘Iole. Initiatives focus on sustainability, education, arts and culture, and contemplation. Dorrance is the cofounder and board member of Kohala Village Hub, which provides the local community with resources that cultivate and support sustainable, local and organic agriculture, culture, arts and sciences through project-based and experiential learning, health and wellness programs for body, mind and spirit, and creative and performing arts for students and the community.
Dorrance also serves on the board of Heartwood Institute, and is owner of the popular Blue Dragon Restaurant and Spa.
