View of US-Mexico border on rangelandOn November 15, 2017, The ASU School for the Future of Innovation in Society hosted a film screening of “Wild Freedom: The Border and its Environmental Impact,” followed by a panelist discussion featuring videographer Samantha Lloyd, wildlife biologist Sergio Avila-Villegas, and ASU Center for Biodiversity Outcomes Faculty Affiliate Jan Schipper.

In addition to exploring the environmental impact of the United States and Mexico border, this documentary highlights historic and current policies, as well as the current executive order to build a wall.

The event was well attended and panelist discussions were followed by an audience Q&A session. Potential solutions and approaches were discussed, emphasizing individual responsibility to become informed citizens on the social and environmental impacts of the border and work with their representatives accordingly.
