Michael CrowArizona State University President Michael M. Crow and Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability Board Member William McDonough have been named to the World's Greatest Leaders list by Fortune. The list honors 50 men and women worldwide in business, government, philanthropy and the arts who are transforming the world and inspiring others to do the same.

According to the list, Fortune chose ASU President Crow because he is a higher-education innovator who has managed to nearly double enrollment during his 17-year tenure with ASU while diversifying the student body and improving four-year graduation rates. This success mirrors a line from the ASU charter that says the university is "measured not by whom it excludes, but rather by whom it includes and how they succeed."

“Learning is for everyone. If we can help universities to produce more master learners dedicated to the breadth and betterment of our society and our democracy, we will have had a major impact on the outcome of humanity," Crow has said.

William McDonough was chosen because of his success in bringing the concept of sustainable architecture and design to the world, and for being a leader in the circular economy and redesigning plastics to stop the global plastics crisis. McDonough is a founding partner of William McDonough + Partners and has written or co-written highly influential books, including "Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things."
