Graduate Student Lunch with
William Goldsmith

William Goldsmith

  • Professor Emeritus, Cornell University

Graduate students from the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning and the School of Sustainability are invited to have lunch with William Goldsmith. Goldsmith taught City and Regional Planning at Cornell and also at universities in Colombia, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Italy. His research focuses on regional underdevelopment worldwide and on race and ethnicity, poverty, and inequality in U.S. cities.

His recent prize-winning book, Saving Our Cities: A Progressive Plan to Transform Urban America, was published just before the 2016 Presidential elections. Current White House policies seem likely to deepen the pain of U.S. cities, but they may also stimulate progressive innovations from cities and even state governments.

This event is co-sponsored by ASU's School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning.
