Urban Garden Tour: Aquaponics and the Phoenix Local Food System

Dr. George Brooks

  • Founder of Nxt Horizon
  • VP of Arizona Green Chamber of Commerce

What better way to understand the integration of aquaponics into Phoenix’s urban food system, than a tour of Mesa Community Colleges Center for Urban Agriculture (CUA)? The CUA aims to promote education and public awareness about healthy eating and living through sustainable urban agriculture, aquaponics, and local food production. The Center includes teaching gardens, an organic urban farm, a cutting-edge aquaponics learning lab, teaching greenhouse, and degree programs in Sustainable Agriculture in Urban Horticulture.

In this tour, the CUA team will give a hands-on presentation of their experiences, research findings, and results from their first year of growing produce using four types of aquaponic systems.

Days before the tour, there will be a talk on Wednesday, March 14th.
Please RSVP separately for that event: here.
