CPCESU Special Seminar: Accessing Funding and Partners for Cooperative Research at National Parks and Other Federal Lands

Todd Chaudhry

  • National Park Service Research Coordinator, Colorado Plateau Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit

Faculty, researchers, and students....learn about the Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Units Network, a national consortium of federal agencies, universities, and other partners working together to support informed public trust resource stewardship. Arizona State University’s membership in the Colorado Plateau Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CPCESU) enables faculty to collaborate with 10 federal land and resource management agencies on research, technical assistance, and education projects spanning a broad range of academic disciplines (e.g., biological and physical sciences, recreation, engineering, social sciences, sustainability).

Projects can occur anywhere in the U.S. and many support the involvement of undergraduate and graduate students (incl. salary and tuition remission). Over the past five years, the CPCESU has supported over $87 million in projects! Why not learn how to get your slice of the pie?

Todd Chaudhry has over 20 years of experience working in the environmental field and holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences and policy from Duke University and a doctoral degree in zoology (i.e., avian fire ecology) from the University of Tasmania in Australia. He has worked for a range of organizations in both the U.S. and Australia over the years, including the National Park Service (NPS), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Country Fire Authority, The Nature Conservancy, and various academic institutions. He currently serves as the NPS Research Coordinator for the CPCESU hosted by Northern Arizona University, where he is also Adjunct Faculty in the School of Forestry.
