Ask a Climate Expert: What Communities Want to Know about Climate Impacts

The Sustainable Cities Network is teaming up with the American Meteorological Society (AMS) to host a meeting for cities and professionals to address your local questions about climate change.

Small group discussion starter questions to include:

  • How can we cool our urban environments?
  • How can we communicate the dangers of extreme heat? Or the potential impacts of climate change in Arizona since sea level rise and hurricanes are not our climate catastrophes?
  • What are strategies to adapt to and mitigate the impacts of hotter and drier weather conditions in Arizona?
    • What are the ramifications of weather modification?
    • What effects do mitigation efforts in other states have on Arizona’s and Phoenix’s weather patterns?
  • How is Arizona affected by extreme weather in the rest of the western states?
  • How can we develop a useful community Climate Action Plan?
  • How can we evaluate our state and local resiliency to weather extremes?
