Place Makers Collaboratory

GIS for Developer, Brokerage, and Construction Professionals

This two-day workshop will combine lectures, student presentations, and hands-on exercises to guide participants through the application of GIS for land developers, brokers, and construction professionals.

The workshop starts with the fundamentals of using GIS to work with geographic data, including hands-on exercises and an overview of the uses of GIS. We will cover some of the top functions of GIS, including examples in site suitability and applications for working with GIS data in the field. The second day reviews sources for GIS data and ways to collect your own data for use in GIS. The day ends with graduate student presentations of GIS projects and applications in urban development and planning.

10 AICP CM credits will be provided. Lunch, snacks, and refreshments will be provided.
