Río Canción: Sustainability Education through Art

In this talk, artist Julie Anand will discuss the use of art to promote sustainability education and the photography workshop she designed and led at the Honduran nonprofit, Guarama. Guaruma offers photography and computer science after-school programs to Honduran youth in an effort to instill environmental awareness.

Anand received her MFA from the University of New Mexico. An interdisciplinary thinker, she studied ecology and evolutionary biology as an undergraduate before developing an interest in photography. Her material histories works were recently featured in the "Defining Sustainability" exhibition at the ASU Art Museum.

This lecture is part of the Arts and Humanities in Sustainability Series co-sponsored by ASU's Institute for Humanities Research, ASU Art Museum, and Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts.
