'Hold My Earrings': Black Women Lead on Systemic Solutions in the COVID-19 Pandemic

Prior to her role in the NAACP, Jacqueline Patterson served as coordinator and co-founder of Women of Color United. She has worked as a researcher, program manager, coordinator, advocate and activist working on women‘s rights, violence against women, HIV & AIDS, racial justice, as well as economic, environmental, and climate justice.
In her blog post, Patterson argues that "the COVID-19 pandemic is the latest crisis to wreak outsized havoc on BIPOC communities and other groups that are often marginalized. In a warming world, it won’t be the last. So, 'hold our earrings:' BIPOC women are on the frontlines of risk, but we are also on the frontlines of transformational justice."
