Diverse cultural values shape the way we see the world. Embracing this diversity gives us a broader range of strategies for creating a resilient, adaptive and just future. This session will explore how a diversity of culture and values can be useful for designing strategies for sustainability and how island states are at the leading edge of what we will have to tackle at the planetary scale in this century.

Business, Sustainability and the Bottom Line
Achieving a sustainable future – a future of universal, intergenerational human well-being in a world of 10 billion people – will require imagination, ingenuity, collaboration and investment on an unprecedented scale. Business has a fundamental interest in how these people live, what jobs they have, what products they consume and what kind of citizens they will make. We will discuss how businesses will engage, innovate and invest to create a global society of opportunity and hope.
