Free Film Screening: Radical Grace
When the Vatican reprimands US nuns—citing their “radical feminism”—three fearless women risk their place in the Catholic Church to follow another higher calling: social justice.
One sister takes on Church patriarchy, another finds hope in the former prisoners she counsels, and the third launches a cross-country "Nuns on the Bus" tour to spotlight social needs. These sisters bring humor and down-to-earth grit to an epic battle for justice, equality, and the dignity of women.
Join us for a post-film discussion with Rev. Vernon Meyer, a Roman Catholic priest for 31 years who was excommunicated for supporting the ordination of women priests; Rev. Sue Ringler, Pastor, Guardian Angels Catholic Community, an independent Catholic Church focused on social justice; and Sr. Margaret McBride, RSM, Sister of Mercy, a nun and member of the ethics committee at St Joseph's Hospital who was excommunicated for assenting to an abortion to save the life of a mother.
