Living the "Farm Sanctuary" Life

Gene Baur

  • Co-founder and President, Farm Sanctuary

Gene Baur, co-founder and president of Farm Sanctuary, a rescue, refuge, and adoption center for farm animals, has been hailed as "the conscience of the food movement" by Time magazine. For over 30 years, he has traveled extensively around the US, campaigning to raise awareness about the abuses of industrialized factory farming and our current food systems.

Our food system is broken and unsustainable, causing severe harm to animals, our health and the planet. Even as the climate crisis becomes more pressing, we continue to see egregious examples of the loosening of the regulations and policies that protect our environment. In his talk, Baur will speak about how this massive, exploitative system is affecting our empathy, our health and the health of the environment and how Farm Sanctuary is working to challenge factory farming, the climate crisis and vast systems of oppression.

We will be collecting donations for Lost Our Home Pet Rescue. They are in need of the following items:

- Clumping cat litter
- Wet or dry cat food (grain/corn free preferred)
- Dog and puppy food (grain/corn free preferred)
- Dog treats
- Puppy pee pads
- Paper towels
- Disinfectant wipes
