In this talk, Kulkarni will discuss the Jain Irrigation Systems Limited (JISL) business model of inclusive growth, centered on the needs of the farmers. He will discuss the various sustainability initiatives the company has undertaken motivated by "learning from nature" and Gandhian principles. a agri-business company with headquarters in India and operations in around 120 countries. JISL is the second largest global supplier of micro-irrigation equipment and a leading producer of processed foods and vegetables. JISL has won numerous international awards including from the International Finance Corporation and the World Economic Forum as the "Sustainability Champion" in 2011.

Kulkarni is an expert on technology transfer and extension for farmers and entrepreneurs. He holds a master’s degree in food technology and a doctorate from the Central Food Technological Research Institute in Mysore, India.
