How Many Citizens Does it Take to Evaulate a Light Bulb?

As many as we can get to come downtown after dark! In fact, this Friday, City of Mesa staff along with lighting specialists from Sylvania Lighting Services and Fire Fly Illumination will be conducting surveys at Mesa Main Library, 64 E. First St. during Mesa's monthly 2nd Friday celebration from 6-10 p.m. The City replaced parking lot lights at the Library with an assortment of sustainable technologies including fluorescent, induction and LED lighting that utilizes 50 to 70% less than traditional lamps. Results of the demonstration will be used to help set standards for City parking lot lights. Mesa staff will also have lighting displays at an information booth on Main Street to encourage 2nd Friday participants to visit the demonstration site. Sustainable Note that the evaluation can be done anytime it is dark until Monday, August 15. All the details can be found at www.mesaaz.gov/sustainability. This month's 2nd Friday event, Dog Days of Summer will feature dog psychics, dog rescue groups, dog art, food, music and more. 2nd Friday is a combined effort of Downtown Mesa merchants and volunteer groups to create an exciting and family friendly way to spend Friday evening. Those who turn in a survey will be entered into a drawing for sustainable prizes. Learn more at www.2ndfridaynightout.com/2.html. From 6:00-10:00 p.m. in downtown Mesa.
