Celebrating Success with Dropworks

Chris Perkins

  • CEO and Chairman of Dropworks, Inc.

Chris Perkins is the CEO and Chairman of Dropworks, Inc., which he founded with academic partners from Arizona State University in 2016.

Prior to leading Dropworks, Chris worked in the renewable energy space. He founded Copernican Energy in 2006 to develop solar-based approaches to biofuel production, which he sold to Sundrop Fuels in 2008. Chris led research and development efforts at Sundrop Fuels until 2015, helping to raise over $200MM and build high-efficiency trees-to-gasoline technology. Between 2015 and 2016, Chris advised a number of startups in the energy, biotech, and healthcare spaces as an Executive-in-Residence at the Rocky Mountain Innosphere.

This event is to celebrate the successes and the recent raising of Series A funding for DropWorks!

Dropworks is developing a serial flow emulsion-based system for biological assays, focusing first on digital PCR products. This technology makes measuring how genes are working in a cell significantly more accurate and repeatable than current approaches, accelerating drug and diagnostic tool development.

In the long run, Dropworks' technology can make personalized treatment of cancer based on measurements of an individual's genetic signature a reality by reducing the time to results from weeks to minutes, matching the rate of clinical decision making.

LightWorks® and SkySong Innovations were instrumental to getting the technology transferred and the project off the ground, so they want to celebrate the success of the potentially transformational start-up company.

Catering will be provided.
