On June 27 and 28, 2018, the Galapagos National Park and the Galapagos Science Center will be hosting the Third Annual Symposium on Research and Conservation in San Cristobal Island, Galapagos, Ecuador.
The two-day symposium will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (7 a.m. to 5 p.m. AZ Time) at the Charles Darwin International Convention Center. Live coverage will be available via the Galapagos Science Center’s Facebook page.
ASU Center for Biodiversity Outcomes Founding Director Leah Gerber, in partnership with Universidad San Francisco de Quito Professor Alex Hearn, will be facilitating a session titled “Do oceanic island marine protected areas protect sharks in the eastern tropical Pacific?” This presentation is scheduled for Thursday, June 28 at 3:45 p.m. (2:45 p.m. AZ time).
This event highlights the importance of research as an inquiry field for conservation solutions and is a great opportunity to learn about the regional, national and international conservation efforts taking place in the Galapagos.
