Associateship Available
The IGERT program offers a limited number of IGERT Associateships. In addition to the five IGERT core areas, School of Earth and Space Exploration, School of Geographical Sciences, School of Human Evolution and Social Change, School of Life Sciences, and School of Sustainability, IGERT Associates may also be from the affiliated departments of Psychology, School of Planning and Landscape Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Civing and Environmental Engineering, and History.
IGERT Associates are expected to supplement the requirements of their home (degree granting) department by participating in selected interdisciplinary IGERT activities, such as the IGERT Reading Group, the Central Arizona -- Phoenix Long-Term Ecological Research project's monthly All Scientist Meetings, the IGERT Distinguished Visitors Series, and other appropriate events.
Eligibility
NSF requires
that only US citizens or permanent residents be considered for IGERT
funding. Applicants must be M.A./M.S. or Ph.D. students enrolled at Arizona State University in a degree program and in good standing with their academic unit.
Benefits
The
IGERT in Urban Ecology program will provide IGERT Associates $1,000 for research
expenses such as travel to conferences or expendable equipment. IGERT Associates
are expected to have primary funding from their own department
or other sources.
Duration
The
duration of an IGERT Associateship is one calendar year. Current
IGERT Associates may apply for a second year. In addition to the materials
requested of a
new IGERT Associate (see below), current IGERT Associates are required
to include a list of activities in which they have participated during
the year.
To apply
All application materials should be received by March 15. Awards
are for the following academic year. Online applications are preferred.

essay and includes your
- research
interests as they relate to urban ecology
- interest
in interdisciplinary work
- capabilities
- department
mentor
- IGERT activities
during the year (ONLY for current Associates who are
reapplying)
- A letter of support from your department mentor
